Celebrating 10 chapters of ELTOC

In March 2025, we reached a milestone by hosting the tenth chapter of our English Language Teaching Online Conference (ELTOC).
At ELTOC, English language teachers from around the world can access high-quality professional development for free. During the three-day conference, we aim to give attendees opportunities to grow personally and professionally as part of our global community, giving them a certificate of attendance to add to their portfolio.

Speaking about reaching this milestone, Emma Belcher, Head of Marketing: Campaigns and Community, said:
“Celebrating ten chapters of ELTOC is a remarkable milestone for us at OUP. This event has consistently proven to be an invaluable resource for English teachers across the world, offering them the latest information on products, industry insights, and support for implementing OUP resources. ELTOC not only provides high-quality professional development but also fosters a sense of belonging and growth within our global community. The significant increase in participation and engagement in this chapter is a testament to the event’s effectiveness and the dedication of our team. We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved together and look forward to continuing this journey of innovation and excellence in education.”
During chapter 10, we welcomed over 40,000 registrations from around the world, with over 5,000 live attendees each day. Each day, we held a diverse range of sessions and speakers on trending topics, including two panel discussions, two practical sessions, and several webinar-style presentations.
Each session was crafted and delivered by experts and practitioners in the field, making sure attendees received top-tier information and practical strategies that they can apply in their classroom.
One of the highlights was a panel discussion on AI to explore its future in education and English language learning. Neil Ainsworth, Professional Development consultant at OUP, was joined by guest Peter Sandford from the Public Sector team at Amazon Web Services and Joanna Szoke, an experienced teacher trainer, AI in Education expert, and English as a Foreign Language teacher. Their discussion emphasized important ethical considerations around AI, the potential that AI has to personalize learning experiences, and the need for ongoing professional development for educators to use tools effectively.
Attendees expressed their appreciation about the latest installment of ELTOC, saying:
“An excellent opportunity for English teachers to exchange their ideas and experiences and learn from one another.”
“ELTOC is a great opportunity to listen to top quality speakers and meet an efficient and cool team!”
“It’s been a rich ELTOC. I’m glad I’ve been able to attend it.”
